Very often, my students do not have the supplies they need to fully engage in our inquiry based mathematical tasks and activities. So, I provide a classroom set of tools that is available to anyone in need. However, keeping classroom safety in mind, I would like to provide table stations of supplies so that my students will always have access to these tools. This will allow them to work collaboratively while still staying safe; minimizing the use of a "classroom set" of tools.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to alleviate the worry my students face because of their economic disparities, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not on whether they have the necessary materials.
Highlighters will be used to annotate tasks. The dry erase board, markers, and erasers will be used as students map their thinking, supported by inquiry based questions posed by their table-mates. Each student will have a set of tools stored in the plastic carts - accessible at each table.
