Make a donation Mrs. Broderick can use on her next classroom project.
Donations to this project will help me create a dynamic and engaging classroom that produces new scientists, engineers and mathematicians! One way I will use these materials is to provide a choice of materials and ask an open-ended question, such as "How can you cause the light bulb to turn on?" and allow students to develop a hypothesis, then plan and conduct an experiment to try to answer my question. During the discovery phase of the lesson, my role will be to monitor student progress and provide minimal assistance by asking questions to further their thinking. At the end of the activity, I will provide a discussion forum for students to share their results and findings. Through this discussion forum, we will explore the greater concepts of the flow of electricity from a power source to an object, conductors, insulators and more.
I want to change my classroom environment from teacher-modeled lessons to those that promote student-directed discovery.
