We desperately need gravel to line the trail that has already been built. With a safer trail, more students and classes can experience the enjoyment of learning outdoors. Having a gravel lined path will also make it more accessible to our students with various disabilities. The gravel will ensure that all students can access the trail safely.
Outdoor learning engages the entire student--mind, body and soul. Behavior issues decrease as a result of catering to our kinesthetic learners. Students break away from the class and can see how the material applies to the real world--measurements for math, physical activity for P.E., leaf etching for art, and real-life for life science. Student engagement will improve in that they will be learning outside of the classroom and seeing how the things we teach in the room can be applied outside the four walls.
