My students have a particular interest in read alouds and sharing this quiet and calm time with them allows us to build a stronger class culture. Read alouds provide students with a model of fluent reading and help students develop comprehension skills. Crossing content areas allows for more time for meaningful discussions, conversations, and manipulation of the content.
These books bring math concepts to life making it more relevant to my students and increasing engagement. Many of my students are not able to have books read to them at home and this series would allow us to implement read alouds, interact with math concepts, and show students that mathematics and literacy can coexist.
