If this art project gets funded the students will be able to work with materials that will not only be beneficial to this project, but in future projects to come. Using the pencils, markers, color pencils, black markers, and crayons, my 4th & 5th grade students will be able to create a drawing/illustration of their favorite animal and its habitat. We will explore animal habitats and environments, and this project will take some experimenting with shapes and lines to create the animal. Once the students sketch the animal and habitat out with the pencils, they will use a Sharpie or super-fine permanent drawing marker to go over the outline to create fine details in the illustration. The crayons, markers, oil pastels, and colored pencils will be used to fill in the outlined areas in order to create their animal illustrations in a mixed media design. This will be a great project to start out the school year because it will give my students a chance to get a feel for using multiple materials in one project.
My goal as their new art educator is to give them the opportunity to work with a variety of materials throughout the school years to come. I plan on being a part of the Buccaneers for a while, so I am asking for your help in starting a fresh, new, awesome art program at this amazing school. Any amount can help!
