The reasons our classroom needs a carpet are for whole group learning time, developing a place for community building activities, space for small group learning or activities, a place to lay down and read, a place to spread out math manipulatives like unifix cubes, and a space for music and movement (exercise). Occupational therapists suggest that young children write while laying on their bellies using read alouds. The squares on the rug allow children to have their own space.
Please consider donating to our classroom.
With such tight budgets, school funds are not available to help with this purchase. Fundraising is often difficult with so many financially disadvantaged families in our school community. It is so important to me to have an inviting classroom, where students can learn in the best environment, especially for those with difficult home lives.
