My students need opportunities to practice the language and math skills they are learning. They need to manipulate their choices to learn, practice and reinforce language arts and math skills.
In a class of 28 students, there are many different levels of understanding. I differentiate many of my lessons in order to accommodate all my learners. My students love the opportunity to work with manipulatives and pocket charts to practice skills they are learning. With such a large class size, it's imperative that they have ample opportunities to work in small cooperative groups. These groupings give them a chance to learn from each other and further their understanding.
