We are a personalized learning classroom where learning is tailored to meet the needs of every single student. These literature games will serve as differentiated centers options that all students will have access to. With the wide range of diverse needs in 1 classroom setting, the reading comprehension games and task sets will appeal to students who are above grade level, on grade level, nearing grade level and severely below grade level. My goal is to create a literacy block that is engaging, fun, rigorous, and meaningful to meet the needs of every student.
Every morning my students and I scream to the top of our lungs "Everyday we're LIT, we've got lots of grit, and we're super smart yeah, we're achieving it!" We are reminding ourselves that we shine bright and we are pumped about literacy. Who says learning has to be boring and one dimensional? The use of games sparks motivation in students to engage in meaningful discussion and play with one another, work independently, and reinforce reading comprehension skills while I provide small group instruction to 4-6 students at a time.
With your support, these literacy tools will help students experience the joy of literacy and help to emphasize my point that "reading is all around us, even in the fun things!".
