A literacy center is a crucial component to a balanced literacy program. Many of my students are currently reading below grade level and struggle to read grade level texts independently. Students who struggle with reading benefit from hearing books read aloud to them. During literacy centers, students have the opportunity to rotate to the listening center where they will get to listen to texts be read aloud to them. The idea of a listening center allows students to feel successful while reading. As a teacher, I want nothing more than for my students to not only feel successful in reading but to enjoy reading as well. This project will help to foster a love for reading in my classroom and will make literacy fun, engaging and exciting!
