The materials and supplies that I am requesting will be used for hands-on learning centers for our Daily 5 program. My students will greatly benefit because they will take ownership of their learning when they get to have a wider variety of activities to choose from. We need a sight-words center, phonics and alphabet stamps, word building puzzles and other hands-on materials. Students will be able to choose from word work activities that target kindergarten sight words. With these resources, my students will learn how to write sight words or even create sentences using them. They will be able to build words with letters or even just practice their alphabet knowledge. These activities will offer opportunities for my students to develop their reading and writing skills.
My goal is to build a strong foundation of learning and to create lifelong learners of all of my students. Our Daily 5 block is a time to foster just that. During this block, I work with my students in small groups to focus on any areas they need improvement on. In order for Daily 5 to run smoothly, my students need to be engaged when they are not directly working with me. These activities will allow my students to take ownership of their learning while also having fun! With these new center resources, I am sure they will look forward to our Daily 5 time every day.
