Students who use electric wheelchairs require higher / adjustable tables so that they can sit close enough to use the workspace. These tables will allow students I teach in wheelchairs to have an adequate workspace where their legs can fit under the table alongside their peers and feel more included.
Feeling included and a part of the class is imperative to a student's image of themselves and how valued they feel in the classroom. If a child doesn't even have an adequate desk, then before learning even begins they already feel less than their peers. A student must feel wanted, valued, and cared for before learning can begin.
