Work stations convert my classroom into an unstoppable learning machine. My students are English Language Learners, 4th grade is their first full year of complete English instruction. This can be overwhelming to say the least. My classroom environment is critical to their learning and work stations are vital to their success.
Work stations allow students to take risks, be leaders, question, observe, and work as a team. Students learn more through their peers and their hands on work because we create a safe environment where curiosity and risks are encouraged. We have stations in both literacy and math. The sheet protectors will allow students to practice vocabulary words and work out math problems while saving paper. The audio stations will aid in literacy stations. Students will benefit from hearing stories being read, they will hear correct pronunciation and fluency. The timers will help us all keep better track of time. Having a visual representation of time helps students access their time management. A room without anxieties and fully equipped with station supplies is a room full of learners.
