The book Wonder is an amazingly well-written story that captures students' interest from the very first chapter. I used it as a read aloud last year, and even those students who weren't typically fans of reading or who would usually tune me out during read aloud were actively listening, participating, making predictions, and asking questions from the beginning to the end. I would love to have enough copies of the book for each student in my class to have their own. This way, instead of using it as a read aloud, we could all read it and complete a book study together. The book covers several themes that students can relate to and apply to their own lives. By reading this one book, I can cover nearly all of the reading and language arts standards with my students with engaging lessons and activities. It would help increase student participation and motivation to read, and hopefully help instill a love of reading in my students.
