The music rooms at each of my five elementary schools are unique, ranging from portable classrooms to the multi-purpose room. Each band consists of fourth and fifth graders who get to participate in band for about 90 minutes, one day per week - about 45 minutes during school and 45 minutes after school.
My students love band! They enjoy learning about music, how to play their instruments, and how to make music together as an ensemble. Most students start as beginners, and grow as musicians in their first and second years of band. The bands perform at least twice per year in concerts, and a few times per year at school and community ceremonies and events.
