These leisure activities will capture my students' interests and will provide a great deal of excitement when it comes to completing their independent activity schedules. Knowing how to play is an area that children with autism struggle with a great deal. I often hear from parents that their child "doesn't know how to functionally play with toys." I'm hoping to change that. I'm hoping that by introducing some highly motivating toys into the classroom, the kids will not only get excited, but will actually be motivated to learn how to play! We would be able to use these toys to actually teach the kids how to play with them correctly and eventually independently.
