I teach at Westdale Middle School in Baton Rouge, La. I am raising funds for STEM materials to be used in Science and STEM elective classes when my 6th and 8th graders return to school. As many know, the lives of me and my students have been turned upside down.
It would be nice to have state of the art lab equipment for hands-on minds-on labs which will assist in bringing normalcy, routine, and a desire to learn. My goal is to raise the entire amount by the end of September 2016. I am requesting temperature probes, Ph Sensors, Pocket Scales, and TI 84 Plus Graphing calculators.
These supplies will allow students to work in collaborative groups to collect data as if they are actually scientists within a laboratory setting for Physics, Earth and Environmental Sciences. They will also be utilizing important skills across the curriculum to incorporate data into tables, create graphs using collected data to determine trends, and then analyzing the data to write a lab report to present their conclusions. Anything given is greatly appreciated during this time, and goes toward these requested science supplies and materials needed by our school students who have lost everything in the Louisiana Flooding of 2016. Again, thank you so much for caring for these children who need so much at this time.
