Two years ago, we began a K-4 coding class using the program Scratch along with other block based programming tools. Through the year, students learn the basics of coding and created their own programs on computers. However, to give our students a deeper understanding of code and continue to challenge them, we need to take our curriculum to the next level with ever changing technology.
The donation of these Dash Robots and iPads will allow students to see that coding isn't just on computer screen. Our current iPads aren't new enough in order to support new robotics technology like Dash. With these iPads, it opens up the door to adding more robotics in the future as well as using them with the Dash robots.
Without this class, many of our students would never be introduced to coding or technology careers. Through code and these Dash robots, we hope to introduce these students to a world they may have never known and help them create a world we can only imagine.
