In my classroom, I use reading stations to build the many reading skills students need to master to become successful readers. These headphones and the headphone jack would greatly improve focus at the listening to reading and computer stations. My hope is that these headphones will cancel out the hum of the classroom to help students engage in their work.
Students LOVE being read to! I have witnessed time and time again a true love of reading bloom when a child listens to a story. I want to give students the opportunity to build that love for reading.
At the listening station, students can listen to books on CD or stories from various websites that are read aloud to them. This gives students the opportunity to hear how reading should sound to build fluency. Good headphones are hard to come by but are desperately needed in a class full of busy learners. I have purchased several lower quality headphone sets, trying to fill the needs of my students. Those headphones typically did not make it through one school year. I am hoping this higher-quality set of headphones can support learners for years to come.
