In third grade students need to become more proficient at writing and begin to write in response to what they have read. Students need tools to become better writers and I feel dictionaries will help them in so many ways.
I believe that once a student has a dictionary they can open up a whole new world of possibilities. Word choices, antonyms, synonyms, vocabulary, and parts of speech from a dictionary gives students the means to expand their language and writing skills.
Understanding a dictionary and how to find words will also help students to become better spellers and writers.
