Starting off the year with a circle time carpet is so very important to my first graders. They need a special place to come together and share ideas, practice their verbal skills in a new language, and learn from each other. The special carpet will also give them their own personal space to be engaged in the lesson. It will help to reduce behavioral situations as it will encourage specific procedures and routines the students come to expect.
Serving two classes of 24 students in a dual language program means that I will essentially teach 48 students each day. The second group of students that come to me will need to have their own space to store learning materials. The classroom work organizer will be essential to keeping supplies organized and creating a seamless transition from one classroom to the next.
