Students need access to technology to be 21st-century learners. The addition of 25 Kindle Fire tablets to our classroom will build their awareness of the world outside our small town and open up opportunities that students would not otherwise have. We simply don't have the ability to purchase what we need to really help these students.
I want to see them succeed and this gives them their best chance. In this changing and evolving world, technology is the key to success and advancement. Students without access to the technology cannot reach the level of success that they need, and that's not fair to them.
The tablets we need will give students the access to Second Language Acquisition support for ESL students, access to research, and interactive learning that they would not otherwise have. As a class we can participate in online field trips to the Metropolitan Museum of Arts, the Grand Canyon, and other European civilizations and museums. These are opportunities that these students would not have without this technology.
