Students will be working with algebraic expressions and equations, geometry, data analysis, solving equations, multi-digit division, solving multi-step equations, and using visual fraction models to solve real world mathematical problems.
Students will use double-sided counters to analyze and think of zero pairs as they add and subtract integers. As students are beginning to solve expressions and equations in 6th grade, they should be able to use tangible representations that will help them build fluency with algebra concepts. From prior years of teaching 6th grade students, I realize that learning will be more concrete for students if their learning includes hands-on learning. I have also realized that I need durable manipulatives to use with each of my classes
