My students have autism and need to work on building different social skills so they can learn to appropriately interact with their peers and adults. These students need to be taught how to follow the rules, have conversations, and being aware of personal space and how they make others feel. Directly teaching these types of skills will teach students how to navigate and read different social situations. I am requesting copies of The Way I Act, The Way I Feel, Enemy Pie, Do Unto Otters, The Recess Queen, Stick and Stone, A Bad Case of the Tattle Tongue, The Worst Day of My Life Ever!, You're Mean, Lily Jean!, and the How to Be a Friend Guide.
These books will allow my students social independence and the ability to make friends and not be overwhelmed in social situations. They will be a great resource in engaging my students and getting them excited in learning these different social skills.
