A new nonfiction library for my classroom will energize our tired classroom library. The books we have are both old, boring, and do not reflect the path that our community is taking. Northern Nevada is home to Tesla, Switch, and many other high-tech industries. These high-tech industries will need well-educated people for decades to come. Those people are my students.
I am trying to set my brilliant kindergarteners on a path of career and college readiness by instilling a love of science and math. The library I have is lacking in excitement and nonfiction. I see how excited my students are when I read about animals, math, earth science, the solar system, and anything else that is real.
I want to create life long learners in my class. Many of my students live in poverty, do not get to reap the benefits of the beautiful area we live in, and they can learn so much from a new non fiction library. I can not wait until we add new books to our classroom library.
