My 2nd-grade students arrived in my classroom this year with limited reading skills. Due to COVID-19, my students lost three months of Kindergarten, hybrid, and masks for 1st grade and a string of absences this year.
My students are missing basic reading skills such as phonemic awareness and phonics. My LETRS training has given me some great ideas to implement into small group instruction and options for help at home.
The items requested will help me work with small groups on the skills they have missed, along with opportunities to have reading kits here at school and at home to assist them. The reading kits will contain items that will help them with phonemic awareness, blending, segmenting, and phonics.
