Having familiar high-quality literature available to children to interact with supports children's reading comprehension and early reading skills. Our school district uses a comprehensive early childhood curriculum that is research based and its foundation is set in a set of children's fiction and non-fiction books. The books in the curriculum serve as the springboard for the main concepts being taught.
This project will build a collection of these books to be put in the children's hands in the classroom library and around the classroom. By having repeated opportunities to interact with familiar texts children will have daily individual opportunities to develop their individual early literacy skills.
