I feel that in order for the students to find the sciences relative they need the opportunity to act and feel like scientists. Lab coats and safety glasses provide students the experience with being a scientist.
The students are struggling students mostly with low test scores and low self esteem. The students' families struggle to provide supplies. All activities are thereby funded by the teachers. In designing activities, we have to consider cost and safety issues first. The lack of lab coats have resulted in less activities that would help the students enjoy science.
I am requesting 24 unisex lab coats. The lab coats are polyester/cotton blend and machine washable. They will provide clothing protection for the students as well as help to set a laboratory atmosphere in the class. The lab coats will be used daily/weekly during our class activity time.
This donation will make a difference in a classroom setting where it is difficult to make students realize the importance of science.
By allowing students to dress in appropriate safety attire, the students will see the importance of science and safety as they study the material and perform activities with the materials being taught.
