When it comes time to research material for lab reports and projects it becomes very difficult. We have a few computers in the classroom but 25 students sharing 5 computers becomes a problem. We do have one computer lab able to hold my whole class but this is also the main lab for testing so it can be difficult to get in. The lack of technology has also led to a lack of basic computer skills by the students. As I teach Honors and this year AP as well, I feel as though I am putting these students at a disadvantage compared to others taking similar courses at other schools that have one-to-one status in technology as well as multiple computer labs and laptop carts within the building. Most of my students also have no access to computers at home. They would have to go to the nearest library, which for some consists of multiple city bus changes.
Your donation would allow me to open up a whole new world of exploration to my students as well as improving their basic computer skills. Most of my students struggle with even writing a basic paper, how to make a PowerPoint, or even using an email system. They are in dire need of enhancement to their education and this would be the ultimate way I can begin taking the steps to improve them. All I want for them is to continue to have a hunger for knowledge while I best prepare them for college and the workforce.
