As teachers, we want our students to have access to everything that they need to become well-rounded, successful learners. What I would love more than anything is to be able to provide more technology (tablets, to be specific) for my students to use. Watching me use my laptop to navigate through Smart Board lessons and do Internet searches is wonderful for them to see. If I have learned anything at all in my teaching career, however, it is that we learn through doing. My students need to learn about computers and how to properly use them in a much more hands-on way. I would like to raise enough donations to get three tablets for them to use in the classroom. I plan to load the tablets with educational math and reading apps, and let them be used for web-based projects. I also plan on letting them be used by the students to take district required online assessments that monitor reading comprehension. My students will benefit so much from having readily accessible tools that allow them to complete these tasks. We as a society are becoming more technologically advanced with each passing day. I want so much to be able to provide my students with daily access to the tools that they need to stay on pace with their peers in this digital age. I am hopeful that with the help of donors, I will be able to achieve this goal.
