These materials will make a difference in my students’ learning in many ways. First of all, it adds a new dimension to the learning experience. They will no longer be subject to a stationary desk-and-chair, but will have options and choices. Providing students with choices is a great way to let them take ownership of their educational experience. Along with that, this flexible seating option can serve as a reward, or way to teach responsibility. Students who follow directions will have first choice of flex seating during independent work time, and the students who use the furniture in a productive way will be invited back. Ultimately, I think this will make the classroom a more desirable place for the student to be.
