My students will be exposed to hundreds of my old read aloud books (on cassette), which have been sidelined since CDs came along. I have invested heavily in these, and know the students will enjoy a huge "new" selection in the daily listening center. Daily reading, from a variety of genres, opens student's eyes to the world around them. I can give my students experiences and opportunities that they have never encountered. In converting my "old school" technology to current formats, my students will have a huge selection of books on one small MP3 player. This can be used independently or in a small collaborative group to listen and analyze text and connect it to the world around them.
