Obtaining a carpet for our classroom is an pivotal step in developing a learning environment for my students that fits their needs. My students are kindergarteners, and doing all learning from their table seats does not match where they stand developmentally. The carpet will be used for community meetings, read-alouds, and whole/small group instruction.
The classroom carpet serves as "home base" in a kindergarten class--it's where much of our learning and connecting as a class occurs. Providing this space for my students would allow them to learn in a developmentally-appropriate manner, while also creating an environment where we can build a strong classroom community.
