With our growing music program at I.S. 72, our students need the proper equipment that will set them up for success. With the purchase of these mouthpieces, each student will be able to have the resources to perfectly practice their music at home.
If we enable our students to practice their music at home, then they will be better prepared when rehearsing as an ensemble in school. Furthermore, when a student is practicing music in the safety of their home or school, they are not out getting into trouble on the streets. Moreover, this will teach them how to work towards achieving a goal and allow them to discover qualities about themselves that they may have never knew existed.
This project will specifically allow our students to partake in our concert, jazz, and marching bands thus helping us reach out into the community through events such as parades and celebrations. It will additionally work towards bridging the gap between middle-school and high school. The high-schools that our students feed into have incredible music programs with performing ensembles such as those listed above. By providing our middle-school students with the proper resources, we can lay the foundation to best prepare them for their future. Moreover, working in these ensembles provide children with problem solving and leadership skills that they will be able to take with them throughout their entire lives. None of this can happen unless we have the resources this project will provide.
