My students are the "melting pot" of our city. We have great diversity; however, approximately sixty percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Some students come to school to ensure they have two meals a day; while others come from upper class families who seem to have it all. My school accommodates children of all races and nationalities. Our children are all across the curriculum spectrum for a variety of reasons such as frequent changing of schools due to military post changes, unstable guardianship, or simply moving in an attempt to start somewhere new. With all this diversity, I would like to prepare my students for the 21st century workforce. Many of my students are very gifted and talented individuals and with the right tools can accomplish anything they set forth to do.
