Our school is focusing on building student interest in the areas of Math and Science. We are building a community of learners and have a weekly time called "Genius Hour". During this time students can explore topics of their liking to develop their own interests in learning. Since I have kindergartners that are limited on the number of experiences they have had exposure to, I will use the Lets Find Out, Science Spin, and Time for Kids to introduce topics and ideas that kindergartners can further investigate. I have used this reading material in the past and have found that it gives the students background knowledge in a fun and interesting way. They love taking the magazines home to share with their families and in some cases even parents have reported back to me that they learn from the articles themselves.
