Do you like sitting still all day? Well, my first graders don't. They are enthusiastic and absolutely love to move! What better way to help them learn than to provide them with the tools necessary to move quietly without distracting the environment and remain focused.
I would really like to make my classroom more student-centered and engaging. My first graders have a really difficult time sitting still. By providing them with flexible learning spaces, they will be more attentive and focused in class. The wobble cushions will be placed in students' chairs to promote sensory learning. Student chairs will be replaced with the balance balls, allowing students to move quietly during instruction and work time. One of my tables will be lowered to the floor so students can use the giant pillows and comfy floor seats. Bean bag chairs will be available for students to use during independent work time. All of these seating options will allow students to move around the classroom while staying engaged in learning activities.
