By providing fiction and nonfiction audiobooks with individual copies of the books to my students, they will not only gain knowledge of nonfiction texts, but they will also explore a variety of genres without the pressure of having to decode the words. This will increase their fluency as well as comprehension through modeling of the text.
Students who are struggling due to the COVID-19 gap in learning will have the opportunity to hear and read without pressure, and simply learn to love reading.
All students, regardless of their socio-economic status deserve quality examples of the written and spoken word, and a quality listening center can help them explore text without the pressure to perform.
About my class
