We are requesting a beautiful calming rug for our classroom. All children learn best when they feel safe, valued, and appreciated. Building friendships and healthy relationships are a priority in my classroom. We begin every day with friendship circle on the rug. It is here that we develop good listening skills and compassion for one another. We also do many partner activities on the rug. This rug will allow my students to move freely in a safe, organized manner. We also use the rug for story time, music and movement, whole group learning, inside recess time, and read to self time. Children need to have their own personal space to help them focus, and wiggle too! By donating to our project, you will help give first graders a cozy, safe, and spacious area to listen, learn, and move. My goal is to meet the needs of all my learners, including children with special needs. At times, I have special education aides in my room assisting my instruction, parent volunteers, and senior citizens helping. This calming rug will allow more space for these extra adults in the room.
