I'm setting up a new art classroom and the art supplies such as rubber brayers, printing ink, paper, and organic texture plates would be a great start for students creating personal reflections in and through art. I design a visual arts curriculum that explores personal experiences, the benefits of nature, unconventional art processes, as well connections with literature. I plan to have third grade students begin with reading and interpreting the story "As An Oak Tree Grows" by G. Brian Karas. We will discuss the importance of trees and their life cycle before we begin art making.
The students will also examine Gustav Klimt's Tree of Life painting and use it as a inspiration for their own tree of life prints. The students will be participating in the printing process for the first time using the rubber brayers, printing ink, and paper. These materials will benefit the students learning experience in art like never before!
