Having comfortable furniture and relevant reading materials will help make the reading experience enjoyable for my students. By setting up our classroom library with multiple adjustable seating options and engaging texts, I can provide a physical space for individuals and small groups to engage deeply with reading. In order to encourage the growth of a classroom full of readers, I need to build a library that is a comfortable space. Cozy furniture that can be moved around such as bean bag chairs and backpackers seats will allow for individuals and groups to immerse themselves in books and projects around the room. Additionally, texts relevant to the 5th grade social studies curriculum like the current events magazine published by scholastic, and an interactive experience in the form of a globe, will provide relevant historical literacy access points for a variety of students.
