I love first grade! That is the mutual feeling that my first graders and I share. First grade is a year of daily growth, learning, and discovery. In my class, I have the honor of teaching 32 wonderfully sweet, smart, and unique people. -- Our school is in a high-needs area of Chicago. All of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Most of my students come from homes where they don't have computers or many books to read. Most of my students also speak Spanish as their first language. -- My students have excitement for learning. Each day we engage in hands-on activities that help grow our minds. My students are not only are hard-working and smart, they are kind and caring. It truly is amazing to see the ways they grow and change over the course of their first grade year.
