I want my students to experience the technique of printmaking. For the last two years my students have had art in their classrooms due to overcrowding. I travel from classroom to classroom. Not having a room, I still want my students to be able to experience and learn about art, and not just do some crafts once or twice a week. I find teaching on a cart, I have to find unusual and new techniques that can be used in a traditional classroom. These supplies will allow my students to understand the process of printmaking.
We will use the concept of printmaking for many new and unique projects. The primary advantage of printmaking as a medium is that it allows images to be easily shared with a wider audience. It is also a cheap way to reproduce images, and this was especially important in the years before photography developed.
An intense and immersive experience of printmaking will be coupled with inspiration from world-class art museums in the city and exposure to a wide range of local artists. The curriculum deepens the student's cultural and intellectual understanding of the world and city around them.
