I've provided my classroom with individual whiteboards that my students absolutely love using. We have contests and group activities with these boards nearly once a week. Students love having a board all to themselves. However, without markers or erasers, it is impossible to get every student involved.
The value of a calculator in a math class is obvious, but the necessity sometimes goes unnoticed until there aren't enough for a classroom full of eager students. If I had a class set of calculators, my students could each have their own and we would use time more efficiently in class.
