Enriching the learning centers allow dramatic play to be changed out each month. The dress-up will fill the new shelf I managed to get for the classroom and provide community themed costumes. The people will enable students to extend their block structures into more than just blocks. Their buildings can be cities, homes, or roads.
Dramatic play is a key element to a successful, fun classroom. Students thrive when they can interact with each other in different roles, acting out real life. Students increase their abilities to problem solve, work with others, and add on to what has already been done. These items support our social studies standards and enrich our learning about community and ourselves.
