I teach everything in 5th grade...reading, writing, language, math, science, social studies, manners, organization, goal-setting, responsibility and community. I also have the ever-important role of being their biggest champion! My students come from low-income families and need every motivating possibility I can provide (or help to provide) for them- some to become engaged and for others to stay engaged! I am their advocate.
