My classroom is barebones- that's why we need this technology to catapult the students into the 21st century. A whiteboard would serve two purposes: we can write on it and view projections on it (no more plaintive cries of "I can't see!).
The document camera and projector would allow the students to access content in a dramatic visual manner, which is exceedingly important to English Language Learners. In science, students won't have to crowd around one child-sized table to see the science experiment. In math, we can take turns explaining our thought process at arriving at an answer, and show our work with manipulatives under the camera. In language arts, we can explicitly model how we write thoughtful entries in our writing notebooks as well as model how we closely analyze readings. The students will be amazed at how the whiteboard, document camera, and projector will enhance their learning. These items are also earth-friendly because we will save on making paper copies. The technology will be a meaningful upgrade in our Sheltered English Instruction and Inclusion classroom.
