A flexible seating arrangement is key to accommodate the next generation of K-12 learning. My goal is to create a more free-flowing classroom environment that is student-centered and provides a more customized learning experience.
I cannot have a community of learners without having a positive instructional climate. A flexible seating arrangement is a key to this new, modern learning environment. I want my students to feel comfortable by choosing their seats according to how and where they sit. This freedom of choice gives them the opportunity to learn responsibility and accountability. Students will also have the ability to move to collaborate with other students throughout the day for activities such as literature circles, group brainstorming, and small group lessons.
Flexible seating is not just having a fun place for students to sit, but it's about utilizing students choice, creating buy-in, and heightening collaborative learning.
