The donations of these rich, powerful, and meaningful books will help support my 3rd grade students with the tools and understanding to learn about how we, as humans, can resolve conflict peacefully.
I will be utilizing the C.I.A Unit of Study and Book Study Program, to help introduce my students to books that will help to empower them and become lifelong learners. I will gradually release responsibility from teacher modeling to guided practice to student independence through these lessons and books. Each student will have the opportunity to utilize their own book throughout the lessons and in small book study groups. Whether they are an advanced reader or a struggling reader, each student will be empowered by the opportunity to embrace their own copy throughout the unit. I truly believe that if we provide our students with the tools and understanding to handle conflict in different situations, then they will be able to successfully resolve or accomplish most obstacles they come upon. All in all, improving their lives for the better through the love of reading!
