As mentioned, my students are part of a Dual Language Program. They are learning all core subjects in both English and Spanish. Each year, our classroom connects with another first grade class in a district nearby in order to have pen-pals or book buddies for the year on paper. The 4 Chromebooks will help bring our classroom activities into the 21st century because their main purpose will be to provide my 50 students the opportunity to not only write to their cross-continental pen-pals, but also be able to see them, talk to them, listen to them, tour each other's school and classroom, negotiate language and meaning through authentic conversations, and lastly to teach each other in both languages! Since in the 21st century technology is the future of our children, for the first time, we can have the opportunity to be connected with another bilingual first grade class in South America! The only thing we need in order to accomplish this wonderful learning experience, without leaving our classroom, is your help with supplying the Chromebooks!
