I am a Pupil Services and Attendance counselor in Los Angeles,CA. I am writing to inform you of the exciting and important work the Pupil Service Counselors offer students and families within the Los Angeles Unified School District. As a unit, our staff members are dedicated to improving and supporting student achievement, parent involvement, and promoting higher education to our underrepresented students. The Pupil Services Counselors work with students who have attendance issues and are at-risk of dropping out of school. Students and families receive intensive support and services to help identify and overcome barriers that may impede school attendance and success. Great effort is made to encourage parent participation and to increase collaboration between home and school. As a member of the community, we are asking for your support in procuring incentives that will assist with improving attendance/academic achievement. Any contributions would be one step closer to getting our 3 trophies and our 10 headphones. Our goal is to have a school wide competition, in which monthly winner are awarded with a trophy, and a pizza party. To add, one lucky student will win one pair of Skull Candy Headphones for attending school regularly. By hosting these monthly events we hope to encourage students to attend school, which will have a positive impact on their academic performance. Currently, 87% of our students are classified as Habitual Truant, and with the generous donations from people like you we will be able to reduce that number. Thank you for your time and God Bless!
